The sound of Music

The Sound of Music.. AAAAAA!

Have you ever watched The Sound of Music? We did last night. We enjoy the beautiful singing. Modern movies aren’t like that. Do you have a favorite song from that movie? 

I am sleeping in the office again. Up before the chickens I need my wee Mr. Coffee. This way I can keep from bothering anyone and still get a blog in.

Yes, we like The Sound of Music. At bed time though, I think it liked me way more that I liked it. Have you ever had a song stuck in your head? Have you ever had a song stuck in your head at bed time? 

In my least comfy comfy spot I tuck myself in for some nocturnal bliss and that is when it hits. The room is dark. K-Dog is in another room. Tuck myself in. One good deep breath with eyes closed. “DO a deer, a female deer, RE a drop of golden sun, MI a name, I call myself, FA a long long way to run…” It is hard to sleep with Julie Andrews and the Van Trap kids singing and dancing in this little room with me.

What do I do now? I tell myself a story. Have you tried that too? “Once upon a time in a place I imagine I begin to drift into a relaxed state of, “DO a deer, a female deer, RE a drop of golden sun, MI a name, I call myself, FA a long long way to run…” Well that didn’t work.

Snatching up my iPhone that was plugged in for its recharge, I look online for the ambient sounds of the warp engines from Star Trek the Next Generation. It’s amazing how this can help when you really need it.

I have to squint my eyes to see the wee little screen. It’s my fault that I left my glasses on the desk across the room but I think I can manage. “There it is! Turn that thing on!”  A gentle sound of the white noise was soothing. It had me drifting off, dreaming of space travel. As I was approaching the Bumfulio Nebula I heard something familiar coming through the gentle roar of the engines, “DO a deer, a female deer, RE a drop of golden sun, MI a name, I call myself, FA a long long way to run…” I think one of the Van Trap kids kicked my chair on the way out. 

I can’t tell you how I managed to go to sleep last night. I think I did though.
