About UFOs.....

About UFOs….

Long years ago, I’m talking about back when I was in junior high school I heard about UFOs. Fascinating, isn't it? The whole idea of little green dudes from who knows where coming to Earth for who know what, had my attention. What is going on??

There are too many sources reporting that they are “real” what ever that means. There is no credible scientific proof that they are from some planet way out there.  Even the reason they are showing up is kept a secret. Is it because it is known but not told or is it all a lie. If it is a lie, who is telling it?

There are those who have actually seen a UFO on the ground. Still the facts around the whole phenomenon are kept from us. The one significant clue is the religious overtones that seem to surround this subject. What about those who claim to have come in contact with these other worldly critters? What about those who claim to have been abducted?

How much are we expected to believe? Or is that it? Are they trying to get us to believe that there is more going on that what actually is? What are they really trying to hide? More important is who can we trust to get the facts straight for those of us who cannot investigate for ourselves?

I don’t know about you but I am ready to open a bag of jerky that I got from JerkyDude.net ! This is too weird for me.

Goal Mine

Goal Mine

Well. it’s that time of year again. How well did you do? Time to look over every goal for the passed year. What goals were reached and which goals were not? Somethings were put on the back burner and others met their demise in the garbage disposal. Some goals were unrealistic. I’m not too shy to admit it. Some goals I didn’t even try for. Anything like that for you too?

We haven’t had Christmas yet but the whole idea of setting goals for 2016 is a big thing for me. Sure as sugarplums, if I don’t set goals I may as well do nothing but watch TV. Is it the same for you?

Sometimes I watch as our little kitty cat neighbor walks passed the front window. We don’t know where she came from and have no idea where she is off to. One funny thing for sure is that that cat always look like she is stocking prey that no one can see. The neighbors keep her fed. She wears a flea collar too.

Have I told you about our big kitty cat neighbor? K-Dog stands in his look out spot and barks a warning to it. “You better not come over here!!” He can say that with all of the boldness he can muster because that cat prefers to stay in the yard with its two big dog buddies. One day that cat sat near the back fence, just to get K-Dog all flustered. That must be a favorite cat game because I saw another cat do that from a different fence at another time. That dog went nuts.

Speaking of nuts. The neighborhood squirrels have been busy! They seem to have a goal in mind. They are gathering up all of the nuts for winter. Winter in Texas is about two weeks long and it isn’t all at the same time. Hibernation for these squirrels is only a suggestion yet they get ready for what ever may come.

That is what goal setting is all about. Proverbs 22:3 (NLT) A prudent person foresees danger and takes precautions. The simpleton goes blindly on and suffers the consequences.

I’ll have to revisit what did and what didn’t work in 2015. Is there anything I can do better? Is there anything new that I can do?

We have been thinking about working flea markets. I have never done that before. Maybe a good idea and maybe we can do it. That would be a great way to sell jerky!  There are other venders who may want to buy cases too. The strength of JerkyDude.net is in building a network. Sure, we can turn a profit in a flea market booth with it but I rather build a network. What do you think? We could sell something else and sell jerky samples and giving information about networking. Perhaps I can put that on a sign as well.

I had heard that it is better to shoot for the moon and miss than it is not to try at all. Sounds silly to me. Maybe I don’t understand it right. Whatever, I like to say that it is better to set 10 goals and succeed at 3 than it is to not set goals at all.

Office Reset Part 2

Office Reset Part 2

A work in progress but it is time to stop for now. My office doubles as a bedroom. It tripled as a storage or junk room for too long. That had to be dealt with big time. Have you ever had a task like that? Well, this is mine. There is a lot to do yet, but there is more done than what is yet to be done. You may know that I am interested in end time prophecy. I’ve had a prophecy of my own for a while: I had said that if I ever get this room organized and just the way it should be, the Lord Jesus will rapture His bride that day. It is almost that way so start looking up.

Of course that was in jest. The facts still remain: He is coming soon, but while we wait for His coming, we still have to pay the bills. I don’t know what you do in order to stay on top of that. I don’t know how easy or how hard that is for you. For all I know, you may not be among the millions who are worrying today about tomorrow’s financial concerns.

There are those who have to work more than one job. Some have as many as three or more. There are those who do this just because they want to have more money for one thing or another.

My sweet and I are retired. We enjoy having time together. Just the two of us. Well, I better not forget our daughter and K-Dog. We can’t count our little kitty cat neighbor—even though it may want to be counted as well. If we adopted that little fuzzball they may have to sell me in a garage-sale to afford it.

Yes, things are tight but we have a plan. We take assessment of what we have time to do and what we can physically do. We all have limitations—old folks have even more. We have found something simple and affordable. It is Jerky Direct. Just about anyone can buy two bags of jerky every month. Just about everybody knows a bunch of folks who can do this—that is all there is to it. If you can do that, you too can have a business of your own. With that you can make some money for what you need or something extra that would be handy. Home improvement may not be something that you are needing, but I bet there is something JerkyDude.net can do for you.

Snap’n Pop’n and Crack!

Snap’n Pop’n and Crack

Have you ever gone to the chiropractor? Let me tell you, I have been taking my sweetie there lately. That poor lady has been in a lot of pain. I am so thankful that she is doing so much better.

It seems like every fall, when the weather starts to get cooler, her arm would start giving her fits. It would start in her neck and go into her shoulder and then she would get the meanest knot in her arm just below her elbow.

Some friends at church sold her some essential oil. That helped real good for about twenty minutes. It was great that she got that much relief. Someone else at church had massaged her before Sunday school. I watched really close so that I could do it for her at home. “You have to get her to a Chiropractor if you want her to get better.” I had told her that too.

The first trip she was helped quite a bit. She got a neck brace. That itself was a big improvement. I ended up doing more of the driving. I don’t mind. The brace didn’t fix the problem but she did get relief. We had to go back several times.

Today she drove us to the doctor’s. When we got there we met a young mother with her two little sweet daughters. The girls were obviously sick. They had nasty runny noses, yuck! I have just gotten over a chest cold so I kept my distance. I don’t want any of what they brought to share with whomsoever that came in there.

This was a good opportunity to get in a bit of a walk. I asked how long she would be. The receptionist said, “About 30 minutes.”  That is plenty of time for me to go a block or so there in town and get back before she was ready to go home. I wanted to check out the stores along the way. I saw several that could sell jerky and make good money with it. We will have to come up with a case of sample products from JerkyDude.net and some information sheets. I plan to go to each one with five samples each. They can sell it for what they want to. I would put our sticker there to JerkyDude.net so that we can possibly sign up someone this way.

What I want to do is sign up the store owners. If not, we could make a profit from selling the cases. If they sign up, they can order whatsoever they want. That would be a good thing!

I continued on down and turned back to the chiropractor. My sweetie was in a massage chair with electrodes on her back and neck. I am so glad that she is so much better! Soon the doctor had her in the examination room. She got up on the bench. He told her to start easing back on her meds while he popped her neck in one way and then the other.

On the way out, there were two ladies waiting their turn in the waiting room. I said, “Hi y’all! This guy really is a big help. See my wife?” She was headed to the door with her cane in hand. “See how good she is doing!! When I first brought her in I had to carry her in a box! Now she is up walking real good!” They got a good laugh and we did too.

Man! I am so thankful to see her feeling better!

Up Before the Chickens

Up Before the Chickens

You may not like to be up before the chickens but I like to think that I am the one who wakes them up. We have a neighbor who has some yard birds. There are at least two roosters in the bunch. I don’t hear them crow before I had been up a little while. That family must get plenty of eggs from all those hens.

K-Dog no longer has a fit over the neighbors back yard farm at least not until the little dogs are out. They must have three or four little dogs. We jokingly say that K-Dog goes over to that side of the yard to argue politics with them. They do get loud at times.

I think that I figured out what was really going on when I tried to talk with that neighbor dude myself. I like to be on good terms with my neighbors. It’s just a good thing to do. Seems that he knows very little English. Maybe the dogs are having the same difficulty. When I found myself up against the language barrier I simply smiled and told him bye and went back to what I was doing. So much for that.

It reminded me of a day at the grocery store. I was working, minding my own business, serving my customers. Then I was thrusted into a situation where I had to help a guy that didn’t speak English. Why me? I don’t know. He went on and on about what I did not understand at all. Many times I tried to tell him that I could not understand what he was saying. Even then he insisted that I was fluent in Spanish. When I explained that to him clear enough that he believed me. He finally got so upset with me and said, “No EspaƱol!?!?” to that I returned with, “No English!?!?”

You hear the argument often enough about the importance of knowing the language of the country you live in. Well, I side on the side of freedom versus consequences. My opinion is that if you choose not to learn the language you also choose to be limited in the society. With patience, there is a way around it, I suppose, but it is a bit rough.

I am glad that at JerkyDude.net Spanish is available to those who don’t know English. Even if I am little help, Spanish speakers can work that business.

I remember when we lived in a community where there were many Spanish only folks. There was venders pushing little carts through the neighborhoods selling ice cream and other goodies. I wonder how well they could sell jerky too.

Oh No! It saw me.

Oh No! It saw me.

The other night K-Dog was let out to his yard to do what he does before we all go to bed. We heard him barking at something. Where was he? It sounds like he is near the kitchen window gate. Looking out the the back door and then the back window I couldn’t see him. Why is that fool dog making all of that racket? I’ll step out the front door and see what was going on.

I unlocked the door and stepped out into the cold. Yup, I can tell that he is at the kitchen window alright, all upset at what he saw. You can imagine how well the neighbors enjoyed hearing that dog at ten o’clock at night.

I see a familiar dark figure walking through the yard across the street. It looked like a gray fuzz ball the size of a cantaloupe, stalking an invisible prey. A car went by. That is when it saw me. Two yellow eyes looked back across the street at me. Like a shot it crossed the street and came at me full force. I clearly saw a white front paw as it was running for all it was worth, it was our little kitty cat neighbor who ran to me and rubbed against my right leg. “You better get home little kitty cat neighbor.” Why does this cat like me so much? I rubbed its soft little back and retreated back into the house. “It didn’t follow me in did it?”

When I first met the cat I tried to scare it off. That didn’t work. I tried to ignore the thing. That did nothing. That cat likes me and it can tell that I was no threat. That little kitty cat neighbor really likes me. I don’t know why.

Could it be the pet treats from yum.JerkyDude.net ?

Office Reset

Office Reset

Do you have a home office? I’m working on mine. You should have seen the clutter! Well, maybe best that you didn’t. There is so many things that need changing around and so many things that need to be packed up. I hate clutter and I hate to be this unorganized.

My sweet daughter took one of my bookshelves. Believe me, that is a good thing! My recliner is no longer right under the drafty window and I have more room to move around in. Sure, the other room is bigger but on mornings like this I would be left to gaze into the darkness of the void

Now I sleep in the office since the other room got too cold at night. It is 32 degrees out this morning. Jack Frost would be my roommate if I stayed back yonder. Close off that room and he can have it. I slept warmer in my wee little office last night. The only thing is, K-Dog doesn’t come back here at night. He can, but he doesn’t. I hate to think that Sweet Mama may be the only one who lets him out at night. When Spring is back and the warmer weather is too, he will be back at his look out spot making sure that our little kitty cat neighbor stays out of his yard. I will be there to let him out and back in and back out and back in. Maybe I can fix the settings on my phone so she can tell me when K-Dog wants out.

Dad sent me a 4 cup coffee pot for my birthday. Now I can make coffee in here without bothering anyone. Today is the first day that I fired it up. YUM!! Fresh coffee and time to write a blog or read… One pot of coffee filled my Vickers java mug. Yes, I will likely make more later. That little dude makes the very best coffee I have ever made.

Ladies breakfast at the church house this morning. I will have to stay here with K-Dog. Maybe I can sign up more folks at JerkyDude.net. The more that I can help the better. I am looking forward to being able to afford the home repairs that we need.

Do you have home repairs that need to be done? Do you have cracks in the walls that are ignored because there is just no money to fix it? Don’t feel lonesome. There are many others that cringe at one big job or another like that. Our roof may still be ok but I would like a new one. How about you?

Some drunk hippy back in the 70’s thought it would be a good thing to put aluminum wires in the new houses back then. How long did it take to find out that that was a bad idea? Do you have aluminum wires? I know we do. Bad idea!
